Our Story

Toronto Common is a micro-events site that makes it
easier to enjoy new experiences.

Toronto Common founder, Alice Tu, loves trying new things and she was often coordinating fun new events for her friends... Making reservations for a new restaurant, planning a group camping trip, or coordinating tickets to sporting events, concerts or classes.

Researching places, prices, add-ons, making reservations, deciding what to order, and collecting payment often became frustrating but she also knew the more the merrier, and often the more cost-effective.

She thought wouldn't it be great if there was an easy, all-inclusive option for trying new things that offered variety, and simplicity.

At the same time she was and still is working as a marketing consultant, had spent many years working with customer loyalty programs, grew up in the restaurant business, and knew the value of building brand awareness and winning new customers.

Toronto Common was designed to bring together the two in a win-win event model that offers new customers a great first experience, and businesses an effective, and affordable way to build their brand.

Our Events

Our Events

Our Events are for Everyone

Everyone is treated the same at Toronto Common events, there are no special guests, VIPs, or exclusives.

There are no free tickets or promotional prices.

All tickets are open to the public on the website and we ask everyone to purchase tickets online.

Our events are small and frequent. Each event follows the same format to ensure efficiency and to ensure prices are as competitive as possible for everyone equally.

Our Events are Always Better than Regular Price

Events are more work for businesses but often the confusion around what's being offered creates more work to clarify then its worth.

We’re not a discount site but we are an easy to plan, enjoyable events site, and what’s easier and more enjoyable than knowing you are always paying less than regular price without having to do any math.

We ensure every ticket price is better value by using off-peak times, set menus, confirmed attendance and efficient marketing services.

Our Events are Small

Although we will occasionally offer a small amount of tickets to larger events at better value, our focus is on small, everyday events.

Large events are great but sometimes you just want a fun Tuesday night catch up with friends or an easy Monday night dinner to try something new.

And because we want to work with great venues around the city, having an off-peak event makes it easier to get a quality experience without the high price tags. And with so much going on in this great city, why not enjoy a night out every night of the week!

BRING YOUR TICKET

Tickets must be scanned so please have your ticket ready to present when you arrive. Your email confirmation has a PDF ticket you can download or print. Smartphone users can also download the Eventbrite App and iOS users can add the ticket to Passbook.

ARRIVE ON TIME

All Toronto Common events start on time, in fact we recommend arriving 15 minutes early to make sure you’re checked in before they start. Don’t miss out on starters, drinks and a great chance to chat with other attendees, arrive on time.

MIND YOUR MANNERS

Many Toronto Common events are served family-style but almost none are buffets so please mind your manners. Remember to leave enough for others and only take seconds once everyone has had a chance to try each dish. Also remember to use communal serving utensils and avoid double dipping.

Be Social, Engaging, Respectful

Toronto Common events can be social. Enjoy meeting new people as well as catching up with friends, but avoid controversial topics like politics, religion, or other topics that may cause offence. Whatever your personal opinion, it is not fair to offend or make others uncomfortable at dinner.
