Whiskey 3.0 - Regions of Scotland Scotch Whiskey Tasting

Whiskey 3.0 - Regions of Scotland Scotch Whiskey Tasting

Now that Boxcar Social has taken us on a world tour in Whisky 101, taught us about Barrel Aging in Whisky 2.0, and given us a small taste of Bourbon for our Toronto Common 3 Year Anniversary event, it’s time to dive into even more detail with Whiskey 3.0 - Regions of Scotland Scotch Whiskey Tasting.

Boxcar Social Whiskey Director Ray Zwicker will be taking us on a guided tasting through the Highlands, Speyside, Islands, Islay, Lowlands, and Campbeltown to help guests learn and develop their palate and appreciation for Scottish Whiskey.

Whisky 2.0 Returns - Barrel Aging Whisky/Whiskey

Whisky 2.0 Returns - Barrel Aging Whisky/Whiskey

We're bringing back one of our most requested events, our Barrel Aging Whisky Tasting event at Boxcar Social Riverside with Toronto Common.

Boxcar Social’s Whisky director has selected a series of whiskies to showcase the differences between non-age statement versus age statement single malts, single barrel versus small batch bourbon, and a cask finished vs a cask strength single malt.

Whiskies come from all over the world, use different grains, and have different traditions. The one binding element of the spirit is barrel-aging. Every variety has it's own standards and practices, but what makes a whisky shine with golden or amber hues is the type of barrel or cask it's rested in.

From virgin American Oak for Bourbon, to the Sherry casks used in Single malts, the wood will define much of the colour, aromas, flavours, and finishes of a whisk(e)y.

In this tasting series, Ray will be taking us on an in depth look at how different casks affect the final product. What's involved in aging. How are different casks used to create unique flavour experiences. What are the rules of barrel aging.

A selection of Crostini, Cheese & Charcuterie will be available as well.

Tickets are $80 tax & tip included.

Northern Italian Pasta Tasting

Northern Italian Pasta Tasting

Toronto Common is excited to be back at The Peasant Table for a special Northern Italian Pasta Tasting series!

We've learned from our popular ramen tasting events that sometimes we just want to try all the carbs on the menu, so why should it be any different with pasta?

And our friends at The Peasant Table have 4 signature pasta dishes, each inspired by executive chef and owner Boris' childhood in northern Italy. The Peasant Table wants to bring a bit of the old world, rustic, Italian comfort food to Toronto with a bit of refinement from Boris' over 30 years in the food industry.

Our event will feature 4 starters in tasting portions as one course, and 4 pasta courses plus dessert for $35 tax and tip included with optional wine pairing of Prosecco with starters and Cabernet Sauvignon with the pasta courses for $45 tax and tip included.

7 Course Mediterranean Surf n Turf Dinner

7 Course Mediterranean Surf n Turf Dinner

Toronto Common is excited to be partnering with the Elm Tree for a special 7 course Mediterranean Surf & Turf dinner with optional 3 wine pairing.

Ever since we had our first Meatless Monday event, we've been dying to do a meaty (Monday or any day) event and we love the Elm Tree's collection of Mediterranean seafoods and meat dishes.

There's no steak or lobster for this slightly more adventurous tasting.

We thought it would be fun to showcase some less common surfs and turfs that people regularly see on menus, may be hesitant to order as a main, but would love a taste to expand their palate.

The 7 course Mediterranean Surf n Turf dinner is $65 tax & tip included, with an optional wine pairing of 3 wines for $80 tax & tip included.
